Mary Jo Lohr
ACAPULCO, Mexico - Mary Jo Lohr, 77, formerly of Pittsburg, died at 7 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2004, in her home.
She was born July 14, 1926, at Findlay, Ohio, to Roland and Margaret Adams.
She married Gordon Lohr of Pittsburg on Jan. 8, 1949. He survives of the home.
Additional survivors include three sisters, Jean Taylor of Bradenton, Fla., Carol Bonta of Findlay, and Peggy Bills of Downers Grove, Ill.; six children, Vicki Wyatt of Prairie Village, Ann Vowell of Houston, Steve Lohr of Pittsburg, Becky Lohr and Mark Lohr of Houston, and Tina Pietrzyk of Valrico, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Following Mass in Acapulco and cremation, her ashes will be dispersed in accordance with her wishes.

Robert L. "Bob" Westhoff, 58, of Farlington, died in the emergency room of Via Christi Medical Center in Pittsburg at 4:52 p.m., Sunday, November 6, 2011.
He was born July 23, 1953 at Greenbush to Sylvester and Celia (Sevart) Westhoff. He graduated from St. Paul High School.
He was self-employed as a large equipment mechanic throughout his adult life. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church.
Survivors include a son – Michael "Zach" Westhoff, of McCune; daughter – Andrea Westhoff, of St. Paul; six brothers – Charles Westhoff and his wife Betty, of St. Paul; Howard Westhoff and his wife Barb, of Parsons; John Westhoff and his wife Mickie, of Drexel, Missouri; James Westhoff and his wife Wilma, of Chanute; Raymond Westhoff and his wife Candy, of Girard; Harold Westhoff and his wife Tina, of St. Paul; five sisters – Sylvia McKinney and her husband Jerry, of Parsons; Mary Frances Jones and her husband Richard, of Bentonville, Arkansas; Virginia Noose and her husband Joe, of Columbia, Missouri; Ruthie Snodgrass and her husband Virgil, of Asbury, Missouri; and Alice Shaffer and her husband Jess, of McCune.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Loretta Nance.
Funeral Mass will be at 2:30 p.m., Friday, at St. Francis Catholic Church in St. Paul.
Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Thursday at the church. Visitation will follow the Rosary.
Memorials are suggested to the Bob Westhoff Memorial Fund. They may be left at or sent to the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.

A 21-year-old Parsons man died and another was taken to the hospital after their car was hit by a train Saturday in Neosho County.
Zachary Scott Harding was killed, when the car he was driving failed to stop at a railroad crossing, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.
Jacob Fredrick Johnson, 21, of Parsons was injured in the crash, troopers said.
The accident occurred on 150th Street, about a mile north of the town of Erie.

Martha Jane Hyndman Stwalley
(15 July 1925 - 02 January 2010)
Stwalley, Martha Jane Hyndman, was born on July 15, 1925 and died January 2, 2010 in Wichita, KS with her husband, Bob and family at her side.
Service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, January 7, Downing Lahey Mortuary East.
She attended Pittsburg State University after graduating from Girard High School for short time when she contracted Scarlet Fever and had to drop out. After a long recovery, she moved to Bartlesville, OK and worked for Phillips Petroleum.
Martha married the love of her life, Robert Stwalley on December 19, 1946 in Girard, KS and raised their three children as they moved from Manhattan, Great Bend, Neodesha, KS ending up in Wichita in 1965 where they still resided.
In the late 60's, she worked at Seneca State Bank and in the 70's worked at KKRD radio as a receptionist.
Martha's philosophy was to live life to the fullest, taking note of the beauty in everything that surrounds us. Fun and laughter should be main ingredients in your life. To be kind to others and always show respect to all. And above all, to cherish your family.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Stwalley and her parents, Jum and Hazel Hyndman.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Robert Stwalley, a son, David Stwalley of Wichita; a daughter, Barbara Scantlin and husband, William of Houston, TX; grandchildren, Shay Whetstone and husband, Mark of Wichita, Brittney Smith and husband, Garth of Wichita, Regan Mitchell and husband, Joshua of Olathe, KS, Amie Johnson and husband, John of Glencoe, MN and Matthew Scantlin and wife, Christen of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Keaton Smith, Abby Smith, Madison Smith, Keagan Smith, Caleb Mitchell, Braeden Mitchell, Korey Johnson, Cameron Johnson, Bailey Scantlin, Tatum Scantlin and Chloe Mitchell who will arrive in this world in May; her sister, Mary Ann Kiser of Girard, KS; a niece, Marti and a nephew, Maurice and numerous cousins.

Sarah Theresa Robinson died Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at her residence in Haysville, Kansas at the age of 39.
Sarah was born the daughter of Johnny Ray and Margaret Ellen (Hayes) Robinson on Wednesday, July 7, 1971 in Revere, Massachusetts.
Survivors include her father, Johnny Robinson and his wife Marie of Mulberry, Kansas; sister, Theresa Smith and her husband John of Missouri; brother, John J. Robinson of Wichita, Kansas; brother, Gary Robinson of Texas; sister, Debbie Reese and her husband Pat of Wichita, Kansas; brother, Michael Robinson of Wichita, Kansas; brother, Scott Robinson of Missouri along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother; son, Hunter Morast-Robinson; sisters, Judith Robinson and Peggy Robinson.
Graveside services for Sarah will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in the Calvary Cemetery, Wichita, Kansas.

Mark Allen Root, age 38 of Baxter Springs, KS passed from this life Sunday, October 2, 2011 in Pittsburg, KS.
Mark was born January 13, 1973 to Charles H. Root and Janet (Switlik) Root-Bolin.
Mark was a member of the Lion's Club of Columbus, Ks and the Masonic Lodge of Columbus, Ks.
He loved spending time outdoors hunting and fishing.
He taught Royal Rangers at the Riverton Friends Church.
His girls were the love of his life and cherished every moment that he was able to spend with them. Family and friends that knew Mark understood his deep faith that he had for his Lord.
Mark was preceded in death by his father Charles H. Root, and his step-father Wayne Bolin.
Survivors include his Mother Janet Bolin of Baxter Springs, KS; four daughters Logan Root and fiancé Justin Kichler of Farlington, Ks, Kaylee Root of the home, Alexa Root of the home, and Elaina Root of the home; three brothers Kevin Doel of Topeka, Ks, Chip Root of Riverton, KS, and Andrew Root of Baxter Springs, Ks; one step-brother Doug Bolin of Columbus, Ks, and one step sister Valerie Harris of Quapaw, Ok: Nieces, nephews and several cousins.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2011 at St. Peter Apostle Parish, Joplin, Mo. Father J. Friedel will officiate.
Following the service Mark has been entrusted to Derfelt's Baxter Chapel for cremation.
Burial will take place at a later date.
Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.
Memorial donations may be made to the family for the girls scholarship fund in care of the funeral home.

Robert "Bob" Thomas Brackney
Robert (Bob) Thomas Brackney, 84 of Weir died at 3:50 p.m. Saturday February 24, 2007 at the Cornerstone Village Nursing Facility in Pittsburg, KS.
He was born August 8, 1922 in Weir, KS the son of Elmer and Anna Horsley Brackney.
Bob, being a lifelong resident of Weir attended Weir Elementary School and was a graduate of Weir High School.
Bob was a veteran of WWII serving Seaman First Class in the United States Coast Guard from November 1942 until February of 1946.
He married Eugenia Florene Griffin on September 29, 1942 in Lamar, MO she preceded him in death on July 25, 2001.
Bob worked for Acme Brick in Weir for 25 years, Boilermaker Union I St. Louis, Mo for 5 years and for BF Goodrich for 10 years retiring in 1987.
He was a member of the Weir United Methodist Church, a past Weir City Councilman, served as Weir mayor, a member of the Weir American Legion and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Survivors include a son Mike Brackney of Weir a daughter Lana Alexander also of Weir, several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister Elma Tucker, and a granddaughter Carla Alexander.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hosey Hill Cemetery in Weir with Aaron Williams officiating.
The Weir American Legion will provide flag folding/presentation ceremonies at the cemetery.
Friends may call at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home in Weir after 2 p.m. Monday.

She was born Nov. 4, 1924, at Pittsburg to Arthur and Bedila (Hamilton) Griffin.
She graduated from Pittsburg High School.
On Sept. 29, 1942, she married Robert T. Brackney at Lamar, Mo. He survives at the home at Weir.
She was an area resident most of her life, living at Weir for the last 56 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Weir.
Additional survivors include a son, Mike Brackney of Weir; a daughter, Lana Alexander of Weir; two sisters, Reba Chance of Pittsburg and Lois Heston of Wichita; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, William "Bill" Arthur Griffin.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at Hosey Hill Cemetery at Weir.
Family and friends will leave in procession from the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home of Weir at 10:45 a.m. Saturday.
Informal visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
